The Democratic and Republican parties have called primaries to determine their nominees for the U.S. Senate and for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Special Election

April 21, 2026, for Proposed Constitutional Amendment on Redistricting 

During the 2026 Regular Session of the General Assembly, legislators passed and the Governor signed House Bill 1384 designating a Proposed Constitutional Amendment                        question to be presented to voters in an                      April 21, 2026, Special Election.

There will be a special election on April 21, 2026, for all Virginia localities, including Middlesex County. 

Proposed Constitutional Amendment

Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?
